About Ben Roberts (@berober)
Thanks for taking the time to find out more about me by clicking on the URL in my Twitter profile. Here is the skinny on who I am, what I do, and what you’ll get when you follow me on Twitter.
My name is Ben Roberts and I am the Director of Internet Marketing at a local Northwest Arkansas (NWA) real estate company, EXIT Pro Realty, where I plot the destruction and domination of all other local real estate companies’ presence online. Other quick facts, I blog real estate (local NWA and National) at EXITrealestate540.com and I own a summer adventure camp, SeaTrek BVI that runs each summer out of the British Virgin Islands.
Find out a bit more about me and my blog on the about page here at EXITrealestate540.com. If you want to know what to expect from me and see if we have anything in common, read on.
I’m a 28 year old Arkansan (currently wearing shoes) living in beautiful Northwest Arkansas with my wife and son. I have been a Realtor since 2005 and currently make my living by blogging (mostly) about real estate and handling CRM and other techy type stuff for real estate companies.
Twitter topics and policies:
I mostly tweet about real estate. I tweet my blog posts. I tweet cool techy type things I find on the internet whether it’s a blog post, a picture, or just a good useful link. I don’t tweet about my personal life. I occasionally tweet everyday curiosities that don’t make sense to me, sometimes real estate related, sometimes not.
ex. Why do chicken breasts come in packages of 3?
I use tweet deck so I rarely reply to direct messages if I am not at my computer (which is rare) but I do get DM’s on my phone so if it’s something you want me know right away, go for it. I don’t follow spammers, people that tweet about stupid things, or most newbies…sorry, I feel like you gotta get your tweet (read feet) wet if I am going to spend my time on you.
My Bio in a perfect twoosh:
Tech obsessed blogger and RE agent, loves his wife and son, sailing, scuba diving, reading, astronomy, gadgets, sci-fi, anything futuristic.
Can 140 characters really sum up anyone? I certainly hope not.
- I love technology, more for what it can do for you than for the sake of loving it. My personal thought is that technology is at a threshold where it’s almost REALLY useful. I’m hoping we cross over that threshold sometime in my professional lifetime because I think work and life will be exponentially more awesome than they are now.
- I am a real estate agent and love being able to deal with the most emotional and expensive asset that most people ever obtain. Why many RE agents are not more trained and professional is quite a puzzlement to me so I have (along with many others) set out to do some ‘professionalization’ of the industry. I guess in 30 years we’ll see how we did.
- I love my wife, we’ll call her ‘M’, and son, we’ll call him ‘N’ and they are numero uno in my life. Business, blogging, technology, and all the other things come a distant second. If you ever don’t get a tweet back from me immediately, I’m probably with my family.
- I own a summer adventure camp for kids that I started at 21. It’s become pretty successful, having taught hundreds of kids sailing, scuba diving, marine biology, and leadership over the years in the British Virgin Islands. I’m a PADI and NAUI certified scuba instructor with several thousand dives (I quit counting). More info is on our website at Seatrekbvi.com.
- I am a ridiculously avid reader, I currently get about 250 feeds in my reader and I try to read a book a week when time allows. I love science fiction – favorite authors include Issac Asimov, Peter F. Hamiliton, and Ian Banks among others. I also read books about cosmology, biology, astronomy, blogging, marketing, and real estate.
- I do occasionally partake in sporting activities like tennis, swimming, scuba diving, sailing, and golf but not necessarily in that order.
