Below is a guest post from Donna Schoby of Ready, Set, Stage! of Northwest Arkansas. Donna provides us with a quick appraisal of the costs of home staging as well as some helpful hints when wondering whether or not to stage your home.
How much does staging my home cost?
As a professional home stager, one of the most common questions often asked of me is, “How much does staging cost?”
Before we discuss fees, remember that when you decide to hire a professional Home Stager to prepare your home to sell, you need to make sure you’re investing in the right person. After all, you are trusting someone with the sale of one of your largest assets. You have to be careful to put that trust in an experienced professional.
Though it shouldn’t be ignored, the last thing a seller should focus on is how much the Home Stager is charging. (We’re not saying it shouldn’t be a factor, we’re just saying there are other things that take priority.) Saving a few dollars in fees only to get bad advice will cost you thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars. Of course you have a budget in mind, but you stand to make a huge profit from effective home staging. That’s why you should consider hiring a professional Home Stager as an investment in the sale of your largest asset. For optimal results, invest in the highest quality stager you can find.
Rates will vary, depending on your geographic location and the stager’s experience, but you shouldn’t hire someone just because they charge a ridiculously low rate. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
With that said, let’s discuss typical fees…
- Ready, Set, Stage! charges $100.00 for a basic consultation which includes a complete walk through with verbal suggestions.
- Rates to come back and perform the actual work ranges from $300.00 up to 4 hours and $425.00 up to 6 hours. In our experience, we have found that 80% of the time, we can perform the necessary work for an occupied home in 6 hours or less.
- Rates for a vacant home staging include monthly furniture rental fees, a one-time staging fee and a one-time moving fee. Costs greatly depend on the items needed, size and price range of the home. Ready, Set, Stage! offers free estimates for vacant homes. We carry our own inventory which allows us to bring the homeowner lower monthly rental fees.
